Some new slants on Geomancy, but weak in Astrological Geomancy
By Green Stone
This is a helpful book on Geomancy, which presents some new ideas and slants that I haven't seen in any other books on the subject. For instance, Webster traces differences in approaches to geomancy found in Gerard of Cremona, Agrippa, and the GOlden Dawn. He also adds a new approach called "Arthurian Divination" , discusses "Napoleon's BOok of Fate" , and presents what he calls "Horary Geomancy." However, the author does not discuss the connection between geomancy and magic to the extent that one can find in John Michael Greer's books on geomancy, such as The Art and Practice of Geomancy. Also you won't find here the exploration of West African and Arabic correlations that you'll find in Stephen Skinner's Terrestrial Astrology: Divination by Geomancy.
The main critique I have of the book is in its use, in discussing Astrological Geomancy, of new-agey modern astrology rather than traditional astrology. THe psychologically oriented interpretations of the various zodiacal signs ("Aquarius is a tolerant, peace-loving intellectual and humanitarian sign") and the interpretations of planets in various signs ("Venus in Taurus enjoys the best of everything and is sociable, charming and faithful. It is also patient, sensuous, artistic and generous.") have no traditional connection with geomancy. The astute observer may also notice that these vague psychological interpretations do not mesh well with the style and flavor of the 16 traditional geomantic figures and their interpretations, which are neither vague nor overly focused on the personality traits of the querent or quesited. The type of astrology used during the centuries of development of geomancy (and during the age of Agrippa) was traditional astrology, not modern psychological astrology -- which has only developed within the last 100 years or so -- and any presentation of Astrological Geomancy should begin with the context of traditional astrology as a starting point, so that those who do choose to go in a different direction and try to use modern astrology instead, could at least see what they are missing, and what the drawbacks may be of supplanting the old with the new.
The book is a clear presentation of geomancy, and includes interpretations of all Witness-Judge combinations for the reading of the outcome of a shield chart.

good but not the best
By DVORA OPHIR
this is a good book on the subject.
it covers diferent methodes and has some intresting new technicqes.
but as a first book i would recomend Art and Practice of Geomancy
it explains everything in the most thorhow way .that is the book you will use.
geomancy for begginers is for expansion but does not explaine about astrological geomancy in a clear way.so not so much for begginers.
the other thing i did not like about it was that it gave ready made lists for the astrological cahrs but used an outdated information- and said so himself . i think he could have modernized it and not copied as it is.
i think the best thing in the book is the arthurian geomancy.
a shame he never mentioned ana cortez use of the geomancy with playing cards.
not a therow job at all.
sorry for speling errors in my revuws.

Passable though fluffy introduction to geomancy
By S. Block
The book passes for being a standard modern introduction to geomancy. It's best suited for people who really have no knowledge of the basics of Western occult symbols, but the book isn't that great in giving a strong basis with them, either. Its presentation of information and technique is disjointed, and though it can be useful for people who don't have much of an attention span to learn geomancy, its extra fluff and needless chapters unfortunately take up as much time as it does to learn the symbols and techniques of geomancy itself. The only really innovative or new thing Webster brings is his chapter on Arthurian divination, but that alone doesn't justify the rest of the fluff and cruft, especially since it's not really geomantic. Though Webster laments the descent of geomancy into divinatory anonymity, his book doesn't offer much to bring it out of those depths, and doesn't really inspire the reader to learn more or meditate on this art more than figure out how to correspond the meanings of figures given in different lookup tables. Though it's a decent buy for someone who just wants something to learn as an honest-to-goodness beginner to divination, I'd much rather suggest a good book on astrology and a more complete book on geomancy for someone to seriously study this divinatory art.
